Al Horford scored 34 points and registered 15 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a close victory over the Washington Wizards, 101-99. Atlanta (12-11) gets one in the win column after losing to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
Horford went 15-23 and went 4-5 from the free throw line, in a quality performance offensively. Other top performers for Atlanta were Paul Millsap with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Jeff Teague with 12 points and 7 assists. Despite the loss, Trevor Booker put up 24 points for Washington on 12-19 shooting. He also recorded 14 rebounds. Martell Webster chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds, John Wall finished with 13 points and 11 assists, and Marcin Gortat put up 12 points and 10 rebounds.
In addition to 28.6% from 3-point range, the Wizards tallied an eFG% of just 44.0%. They are winless (0-4) on the season when registering marks below 30% and 45%, respectively, in those statistics. The Hawks, conversely, are undefeated (4-0) when holding the opposition to such dismal shooting numbers.
Washington (9-12) has now dropped their last three in a row.
