Al Horford posted his seventh double-double this season, scoring 19 points and registering 11 rebounds, to help the Atlanta Hawks beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 114-100. The Hawks picked up the victory due in large part to their efficiency handling the basketball, accumulating 34 assists and turning it over only 10 times. Atlanta (13-12) picked up the win after falling to the New York Knicks on Saturday.
Horford shot 9-17 from the field. Atlanta also got solid performances from Paul Millsap with 18 points and 9 rebounds, Jeff Teague with 17 points and 10 assists, and DeMarre Carroll with 13 points and 6 rebounds. On 7-14 shooting, including 5-7 from behind the arc, Nick Young scored 23 points off the bench for Los Angeles in the loss. Xavier Henry added 18 points and 6 rebounds and Pau Gasol finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
After putting up a sparkling assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.40, the Hawks are 4-2 on the season when eclipsing 2.50 in this category. However, the Lakers are winless (0-5) when allowing their opponents to achieve such a lofty ratio.
This drops Los Angeles (11-13) to 1-1 against Atlanta on the year.
Coming up, the Hawks square off against the Sacramento Kings, who are 7-15 on the season. The Lakers go up against the Memphis Grizzlies, currently sitting at 10-13 this year. The Hawks are 1-0 versus Sacramento this season. The Lakers are 0-1 versus Memphis this season.
