Former PSV manager Dick Advocaat believes Kevin Strootman’s performances for Roma have put the midfielder on course for a move to a bigger club.
The 23-year-old was linked with a switch to Old Trafford before he joined the current Serie A leaders in July. Advocaat, who managed Strootman at PSV last season, says he was surprised that Europe’s elite clubs missed the chance to sign the Netherlands international in the summer but feels another transfer may be close.
“Strootman is a pure professional,” Advocaat told Algemeen Dagblad. “It frankly surprised me that he did not get to the absolute top last summer and was on the side a little. I do not think he will stay at Roma that long. If Kevin is at this level, he will be plucked away. And then it will be a team of the caliber of Manchester United.”
