The Adelphi men’s lacrosse team is getting political, using a quote from President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech at the 2016 GOP convention as its motivational entrance music.

Here’s the video, courtesy of Barstool Sports:

“In all of our cities and all of our towns, I make this promise,” the Trump voiceover says. “We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again. God bless you, and good night. I love you.”

It’s not unusual to use quotes for motivation, though they’re generally more of the “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” variety. Adelphi is located in Nassau County, New York, which broke 50 percent to 42 percent in favor of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.

“The men’s lacrosse team’s regular-season pregame warm-up music is selected as a team and approved for use so long as they do not contain vulgarity or inappropriate subject matter,” Adelphi athletic director Danny McCabe told Newsday in a statement. “The songs they proposed and used this season meet those guidelines. As such, we are obliged to follow the policy.”

Men’s lacrosse coach Gordon Purie added, “It was not intended to provoke or be taken as a political statement. We’re sorry if anyone was offended.”
