Abilene Christian eclipses McMurry 60-17

ABILENE, Texas (AP) -- Charcan West rushed for four touchdowns and John Baker threw for two and ran for one more in Abilene Christian's second blowout of the season with a 60-17 victory against McMurry Saturday night.

Baker, who was 17 of 23 for 212 yards, tossed a school record seven touchdowns a week ago in the Wildcats' 84-6 drubbing of Concordia (Ala.) College.

West led the Wildcats with 20 carries for 139 yards.

Paxton Grayer had 13 carries and 137 yards rushing in the season opener for the War Hawks, scoring one touchdown three minutes into the third quarter to bring the score 32-10. McMurry is in its second year of transition to Division II status.

Abilene Christian is making the transition to Division I status and announced its return to the Southland Conference in July.
