Buzzing on Yahoo Sports:

Aaron Rodgers 'not stressing' about contract situation

National Football Post

Is there a bigger Joe Flacco fan right now than Aaron Rodgers?

The Green Bay Packers quarterback doesn’t have to come out and openly root for the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl winning MVP to hit the jackpot in contract negotiations. But it’s simple economics: Every quarterback that will have a contract shortly following Flacco wants to see him strike it big. The old adage, of course, is that high tide raises the level of all ships.

While Flacco is set to get a new contract this offseason – he is out of contract – Rodgers might not be far behind. His contract expires at the end of the 2014 season and there has been some scuttlebutt that the team might look to get a deal done this offseason. Rodgers, the former MVP, has certainly outplayed his current deal. But judging by his comments to the Green Bay Press-Gazette from the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, he’s cool with the situation right now.

I’ve had eight great years there, the last five as a starter,” Rodgers said. “Hopefully I can give them another eight plus years of playing at a high level.

“We’ll see what happens with (a new contract), I’m not stressing about it. I think the Packers would like me to be around for a few more years and I’d love to finish my career there.”

Rodgers was impressed by the play of Flacco in leading the Ravens to the championship while throwing 11 touchdowns and not a single interception in the postseason.

“Joe had a great postseason and now he’s got to be considered among the top guys winning the Super Bowl,” Rodgers said.

Atlanta’s Matt Ryan, who will be seeking a new contract soon, has to agree. It will be interesting to see how the landscape for quarterback pay looks 18 months from now.
