50 Cent Lashes Out at Oscar De La Hoya: Fan Reaction

Yahoo Contributor Network

Rapper 50 Cent recently received his boxing promoter's license from the State of New York, making The Money Team Promotions official. However, he wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms by the competition, as Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya took a cheap shot at the rap mogul.

"Everyone wanting to be a boxing promoter? Good luck," De La Hoya tweeted. "Easier said then done."

50 Cent took De La Hoya's comments as an insult, and he fired back at "The Golden Boy" with a series of tweets.

"Sweet heart I'm surprised you would respond to me and Floyd [Mayweather] starting company the way you did," 50 Cent tweeted. Girl you can call me if you want to talk. Ok. … I don't gamble Floyd do, but I bet you you won't be promoting Floyd Mayweather no more. … Baby girl, baby girl you here me, stop hating STOP IT RIGH NOW."

Backed against a corner, De La Hoya tried to diffuse the situation, tweeting, "@50cent your a boxing promoter? good luck maybe we can work someday. #success #nextgeneration #GBB #TMT"

However, 50 Cent wasn't about to let De La Hoya get off that easily, replying, "Great back pedal, can you swim backwards like that to girl? lol I except that as a apology. #GBB #TMT more success a head."

If you're wondering why 50 Cents continually refers to De La Hoya as "girl," it probably has something to do with De La Hoya's controversial lingerie photos.

Even though 50 Cent doesn't come off as the typical boxing promoter, it wouldn't be wise to underestimate his abilities. His close relationship with boxing's biggest earner gives him a significant advantage over most promoters. 50 Cent has gotten an up close and personal view of the intricacies of the sport for quite some time, and he seems to be a business savvy individual.

According to 50 Cent, he plans to sign Yuriorkis Gamboa and Andre Dirrell soon.
