Defensive end Da'Shawn Hand, one of the 2014 recruiting class' most coveted prospects from Woodbridge, Va., announced his commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday. Hand's decision adds another five-star player to coach Nick Saban's 2014 recruiting haul. The 6-foot-4, 254-pound Hand chose Alabama over Michigan and Florida. He is Alabama's 23rd commitment in the 2014 class, and the third five-star. "It was a long process -- next year, I will be attending the University of Alabama," Hand said in front a live TV audience. "All of the coaches care about their players. They don't lie to you. I know when I go in I won't be No. 1 on the depth chart. They had the most freshmen playing this year. "They offer the best of both worlds. They have my major -- civil engineering. "Campus life is amazing, the coaching staff is just amazing. Why not go where there's a great possibility where you can win a national championship."
