49ers G Iupati exits with ankle injury

The SportsXchange

SEATTLE -- San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl guard Mike Iupati left Sunday's NFC Championship Game with an ankle injury, and the team announced before halftime that he would miss the remainder of the game.

Two teammates helped carry Iupati off the field after the guard got hurt on running back Anthony Dixon's touchdown run early in the second quarter. Dixon leaped over the pile to score on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line, and Dixon got caught under the pile.

The 49ers return man/running back LaMichael James also exited the game before half, but he returned in the third quarter.

James took a big hit from the Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette while attempting to field a punt three minutes into the second quarter, and he sustained a neck injury. James muffed the punt, but the 49ers recovered the ball and subsequently drove for Dixon's touchdown that put San Francisco in front 10-0.
