Anquan Boldin had a big day receiving, leading the way to a solid win for the 49ers against the Panthers, 23-10 in Charlotte. With the win, San Francisco moves on to the NFC Championship.
Colin Kaepernick accounted for two touchdowns against the Panthers (1 pass, 1 rush) on 15 of 28 passing for 196 yards and no interceptions. On the Panthers side, Cam Newton went 16 for 25 with 267 yards passing, one touchdown and two picks.
Frank Gore was a standout player for the 49ers, rushing for 84 yards on 17 attempts. Boldin was a highlight, pulling in eight balls for 136 yards.
The San Francisco defense was the difference in the victory, giving up 93 yards rushing and 267 passing. They harassed Newton and the Panthers offensive line with an imposing five sacks.
Finally, Phil Dawson was perfect, making all three of his field goal attempts.
Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. provided some spark with 104 receiving yards. Wide receiver Steve Smith also had a noteworthy performance with 74 receiving yards and one touchdown.
