49ers, Boldin working on long-term deal

The San Francisco 49ers are planning to retain veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin on a long-term basis.

A multi-year contract extension is regarded as likely, according to CSN Bay Area.

The 49ers would like to get a contract extension prior to March 8, the first day free agents are allowed to negotiate with other teams prior to the start of free agency March 11.

Boldin finished with 85 receptions for 1,179 yards and seven touchdowns.

He caught 13 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown during the first game of the season against the Green Bay Packers.

Boldin, 33, remains a reliable receiver capable of making contested catches.

He's one of the toughest players in the game regardless of position.
