The San Francisco 49ers acquired quarterback Colt McCoy from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for two undisclosed picks in this month's NFL Draft.
McCoy gives the 49ers the mobile backup to starter Colin Kaepernick they have been seeking since dealing Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs last month.
Meanwhile, the Browns now have seven picks in this year's draft.
McCoy was a third-round pick by the Browns in 2010 and has started 21 of his 24 career games, positing a 6-15 record as a starter. He has completed 409 of 702 career passes for 4,388 yards with 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He registered a 6-15 record as a starter.
McCoy seemed to be the odd man out in Cleveland, where Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden are expected to compete for the starting job.
McCoy started 13 games for the Browns in 2011, but he played in just three games in 2012, completing 9 of 17 passes.
