3-Star Brant Kuithe on recruitment with brother, upcoming visits

Recruiting siblings can be a bit tricky, but it helps when one of them can play just about any position on offense.

Katy-Cinco Ranch athlete Brant Kuithe has seen his - and his brother, Blake - interest from college programs steadily rise since the end of last football season. Prior to then, the duo had hardly done more than visit nearby Rice for a game, but hadn’t spent much time pressing to draw the attention of many teams.

Now, both share several offers from a handful of schools, but Brant doesn’t think the pair isn’t overly concerned about being treated as a package deal.

“We mentioned it to our coach,” he said. “But now, we feel like we can play at different schools if we have to.”

Blake, who projects strictly as a defensive end, holds a Power Five offer from Iowa State in addition to the one both have from Colorado. Brant is more of an offensive utility player that could lineup anywhere from the backfield to split out wide depending on the situation.

While it’s tough to say that Brant is a true immediate fit at a position other than perhaps an H-Back at the moment, he feels though eventually his versatility will lead to more opportunity as his name becomes more well-known.

“I think I have a good football IQ because I play quarterback, running back, receiver,” he said. “I’m fine wherever else on the field, but I feel like running back is my best fit.”

The brothers are hopeful to make a visit to Boulder sometime in the summer, although specifics haven’t been planned out just yet. Brant did make mention that the Buffaloes offer has led to a spike in interest from schools like Boise State and Texas State in addition to possibly prompting Lousiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe to come through with offers of their own.

“It was interesting because the coach was sitting in the office and at first told us he was going to come back next week,” Brant said. “But he just went ahead and said ‘We’re going to offer both of you a scholarship,” and I was like, wow. I kind of expected it because he said something about it, but once he actually said it, it just opened up a whole nother world.”

The brothers plan to be in Lafayette this Saturday for a junior day event as well as Texas State next month. Brant will be a participant at the upcoming Dallas event of the Rivals Three Stripe Camps presented by Adidas.
