25 punters on Ray Guy Award watch list

The preseason watch list for college football's Ray Guy Award that honors the nation's top punter was released Wednesday.

Among the 25 early contenders are four semifinalists from last year: Florida's Kyle Christy, Auburn's Steven Clark, Marshall's Tyler Williams and Iowa State's Kirby Van Der Kamp.

The annual award is named after Ray Guy, who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, and sponsored by the Augusta Sports Council.

An updated list of candidates will be announced Oct. 25, with semifinalists to follow on Nov. 8 and then the winner will be named Dec. 12.

In addition to the four returning semifinalists, the watch list includes Michael Bowlin of Washington State, Cayle Chapman-Brown of New Mexico State, Justin Duvernois of Illinois, Landon Foster of Kentucky, Thomas Hibbard of North Carolina, Tom Hornsey of Memphis, Colter Johnson of Massachusetts, Keith Kostol of Oregon State, Richie Leone of Houston, Mike Loftus of SMU, Anthony Melchiori of Kent State, Will Monday of Duke, Hunter Mullins of UAB, Pat O'Donnell of Miami, Darragh O'Neill of Colorado, Ethan Perry of TCU, Mike Sadler of Michigan State, Ben Skaer of New Mexico, Trent Tignor of East Carolina, Harrison Waid of San Jose State and Cody Webster of Purdue.
