On tap today:

The second day of track and field leads into the last day of swimming. Electric Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and American sprinter Allyson Felix are expected to make their 2016 Olympic debuts in qualifying heats.

Morning slots:

Women’s fencing starts the day with the team sabre quarterfinals at 8 a.m. ET on NBCSN. Starting at 10 a.m., NBC begins with track and field action, including heats of the men’s 100-meter sprint featuring two-time defending gold medalist Usain Bolt, and the women’s 400-meter with American Allyson Felix looking to medal after winning the World Championship. Medals will also be handed out as the men’s discus will be in its final round in the morning.

Third-round action in men’s golf will also be taking place starting at 6:30 a.m. ET. Bubba Watson had a better round on the course yesterday to get to 2-under for the tournament, but is still eight strokes behind leader Marcus Fraser of Australia.

Afternoon slots:

Continuing from NBC’s morning coverage will be U.S. women’s water polo, and the team will be facing Hungary. The U.S. will be looking to improve on its 1-0 start to group play.

You can stick around NBC to watch round of 16 elimination matches in beach volleyball, but if you want to take a break from the sand, Argentina and Brazil engage in their fierce rivalry on the basketball court as the men’s teams fight for South American bragging rights at 1 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

Be sure to switch back to NBC to watch rowing finals, where the U.S. women are looking to win their third straight gold in the eights competition. In the same slot will be men’s trampoline, where Olympians will be jumping nearly 30 feet in the air performing twists and flips.

At the tail end of afternoon coverage is U.S. men’s volleyball, which will be looking to build on its upset of Brazil. The Americans will be playing against France at 4 p.m. ET

Primetime slots:

The U.S. women’s field hockey team has taken the Olympics by storm, far surpassing expectations and going 4-0 in group play heading into its game against fellow unbeaten Great Britain at 5 p.m. ET on CNBC.

Tonight is a veritable handing off of the baton from the pool to the track, with swimming coverage ending and track and field getting things rolling. NBC’s primetime coverage starts at 8 p.m. at Olympic Stadium with men’s long jump up first.

Dueling in the men’s 10,000-meter run will be defending Olympic champion Mo Farah, who will be running against training partner Galen Rupp of the United States, who will be looking to improve on his silver finish in London. Headlining Day 2 on the track will be the crowning of the fastest woman on earth, where American Tori Bowie will be battling two-time defending champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100-meter sprint final.

In the final night of Olympic swimming, Michael Phelps is seeking a golden conclusion to his Rio Games with a win in the 4×100 medley relay where he will be offering his services in the butterfly stroke. The night’s swimming coverage will also include American Connor Jaeger in the men’s 1500-meter freestyle.

Ending the night at 12:30 a.m. will be more track and field.
