2014 Cleveland Browns NFL Mock Drafts (January 22)

COMMENTARY | 2014 NFL mock drafts are all fans of the Cleveland Browns have to look forward to with over a week to go until the Super Bowl. The team still has no coaching staff, Cleveland's preferred head coach candidates are preparing to meet up in the title game AND one of those guys has snubbed the team. The Browns need a savior who will hopefully join the team in May.

Reminder: The Browns possess two first round picks due to going 4-12 and because of trading Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts back in September 2013.

2014 Cleveland Browns NFL mock drafts (January 22): Walter Football

First pick: QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M: Walter Football continues to hold true that the Browns will use this pick to select the phenom known as Johnny Football. Two rumors are apparently not going anywhere: The Browns are interested in Manziel, and Cleveland may have to trade up in order to take him.

Second pick: G/OT David Yankey, Stanford: The latest Walter Football mock draft has Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin, linked with the Browns last midweek, being grabbed by the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 23 overall. That doesn't necessarily mean that Cleveland needs to go offensive line here. Penn State WR Allen Robinson could still be on the board this late in the first round.

2014 Cleveland Browns NFL mock drafts (January 22): Matt Smith

First pick: QB Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville: Most interesting about this prediction is that the NFL.com draft expert has Manziel dropping to fifth overall. Smith believes that the Browns will fall more in love with Bridgewater during and after the NFL Scouting Combine. The Louisville QB is a safer bet than is Manziel, which is why this isn't all that crazy of a suggestion.

Second pick: WR Paul Richardson, Colorado: It's another first for Cleveland and mock drafts. Richardson, at 6-1 and 170 pounds, had 83 receptions, ten touchdowns and 1,343 receiving yards in 2013. That said, he may have some work ahead of him if he is to move above other WRs on draft boards.

2014 Cleveland Browns NFL mock drafts (January 22): Rob Rang

First pick: Manziel: After weeks of predicting that the Browns will use this pick to take an offensive lineman, Rang is on the Johnny Football bandwagon. He had this to say on Manziel: " While I personally question how well an undersized quarterback who relies on his mobility is going to fare in the gusts and grass of FirstEnergy Field, there is no denying Johnny Football's appeal."

Second pick: OT Cyrus Kouandjio, Alabama: It's not as sexy a selection as is a play-making WR, but it's one that fits a necessity. The team's offensive line was once again disappointing last season, and Kouandjio is good on run and pass plays. It's possible, depending on how many o-linemen are taken beforehand, that his stock could rise before the Browns are called to the podium for the second time.

2014 Cleveland Browns NFL mock drafts (January 22): Dane Brugler

First pick: Manziel: Unlike his CBS colleague, Brugler has been high on the Browns selecting Manziel for weeks. For what it's worth, Brugler has the Houston Texans taking UCF quarterback Blake Bortles first overall, and the Jacksonville Jaguars selecting Bridgewater with the third pick.

Second pick: LB C.J. Mosley, Alabama: Mosley would be a great get for any team, an athletic linebacker who is also a known leader on and off the field. That said, this is the lowest I've seen Mosley fall in any of the NFL Mock Drafts I've been reviewing since November. Some have him going as high at No. 11 overall.

2014 Cleveland Browns NFL mock drafts (January 22): DraftTek

First Pick: QB Derek Carr, Fresno State: This is a curious pick even with the website predicting that the Jaguars will snatch Manziel. It has Blake Bortles rated above Carr on the big board, and yet the analysts are putting the Fresno State QB in Cleveland with the fourth overall pick. Unless he has a monster performance in the combine, this isn't happening.

Second pick: WR Jordan Matthews, Vanderbilt: Matthews is becoming a sleeper pick here if Cleveland does hold onto No. 26 overall. Matthews had 112 catches, 1,477 yards and seven touchdowns in 2013. He's 6-3 and 206 pounds. While not known for being a game-changer, Matthews would make for a great partner for Josh Gordon.
