Cal will play the first college football game in the new Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., next season against Oregon. The Pac-12 game is scheduled for Friday night, Oct. 24, in the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, which opens next year. "I know that our players will embrace the chance to play Oregon at Levi's Stadium next fall, and I'm sure our fans will create a great atmosphere for our team," Cal coach Sonny Dykes said. "This is a special opportunity to play in a stadium where the Super Bowl will be held in the near future and one that we feel can generate a tremendous overall experience for everyone involved." Cal expects to cash in with a "a seven-figure dollar increase in incremental net revenue for the athletic department relative to a home game" by moving the game to the new, state-of-the-art venue. There were reports during the summer that the Golden Bears' annual game against Bay Area rival Stanford would be switched to Levi's Stadium, but many Cal supporters were reported to be opposed to the move.
