The Carolina Panthers are in the middle of a pretty horrific season and things are not likely to get much better soon. The team is starting to bicker and coach Ron Rivera is rumored to be losing the locker room. While these types of rumors are common among any team that is struggling, the Panthers are also losing with regularity despite having a talented team. While this is bad news for Panthers fans like me, it does not necessarily mean that no fantasy football options can be culled from the ashes. In fact, there are several guys that would make great fantasy options for week nine of NFL action when they face the Washington Redskins.
While I would not call him consistent, I would call him explosive. The guy puts up numbers nearly every week and there is always that chance for a huge week with his running ability. If you are in a yardage league, then Cam Newton is a must play if he is on your roster. The Redskins give up more yardage through the air than anybody in the league. Expect some fireworks.
Like Cam, he is a must play if only because of Washington's horrible secondary. Smith also happens to be Cam's favorite target and one of the best receivers in the league. If you have Steve Smith and plan to play him for only one game this year, this game would be it.
Olsen is a guy that will explode when the secondary is soft. He is particularly effective running up the seam and this game will feature that often. Greg Olsen will have a huge game against the Washington Redskins and you can mark that down.
If you are in IDP leagues, then Kuechly has become a superman. Kuechly has been racking up tackles since moving to his natural position of middle linebacker. With Jon Beason out, there is no reason to not pick this guy up and plant him squarely in that roster spot.
With three sacks against the Chicago Bears, he has proven that he is a legitimate defensive end threat in IDP leagues. Plug this guy in and watch him go to town.
Johnson has been a beast all season long and two forced fumbles in week eight shows that he is on his game right now. Add in the fact that he had two sacks and that is more than enough reason to play him.
