The 2012 AT&T Championship will be played on the Canyons Course at TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas from Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28. Television coverage of the event can be found on Golf Channel and there will at least six hours of TV coverage over the three-day span.
Established in 1985 as the Dominion Seniors, this is the final full-field event of the Champions Tour season. Other previous names for the tournament include Benson & Hedges Invitational (1986), Vantage at The Dominion (1987-1988, 1990-1994), RJR at The Dominion (1989), SBC presents The Dominion Seniors (1995), SBC Dominion Seniors (1996), Southwestern Bell Dominion (1997-1999), and SBC Championship (2000-2005).
The defending champion of the event is Fred Couples, who won the event with a score of -23, a tournament record. He beat out second place finisher Mark Calcavecchia by seven strokes, the greatest margin since 2004 where Mark McNulty defeated Gary McCord by eight strokes. Day 1 will likely start with Jeff Hart, Jim Rutledge and Lance Ten Broeck teeing off at 9:30 a.m. ET. The purse for the event is $1.85 million with the winner earning $277,500.
