While there have been some preliminary games for both men's and women's soccer before the lighting of the Olympic flame, Friday, July 27 will mark the official beginning of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Olympic action will be broadcast on NBC, NBC Sports Network, and Telemundo.

Due to the time difference, Friday's Opening Ceremony will not be broadcast live in the United States, even though it starts at 4 p.m. EDT. NBC will broadcast the event during prime time for both Eastern and Pacific time zones. The 2012 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony will also be broadcasted again in the early morning on Saturday, July 28, on NBC.
