Always a bridesmaid, never the bride, the Minnesota Vikings have consistently had one of the highest winning percentages in the NFL. They have played in four Super Bowls, made the playoffs 24 times since the NFL-AFL merger and won the NFL championship in 1969 and NFC titles in 1973, '74 and '76. A Vikings fan must live by the philosophy that every game, every play even, will hold something new and never give up hope. Following a team that keeps fans at the edge of their seats is difficult; we must deal with the disappointment and small victories alike and hold out for the day when our team finally brings home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The Vikings are coming off of one of the roughest seasons in team history. Between the obtaining then waiving Randy Moss, firing head coach Brad Childress and dealing with the Metrodome's collapse, let us be honest, last season was a soap opera. Now, with Leslie Frazier at the helm, the team is starting to rebuild and focus on football. With a revamped coaching staff and very promising roster, it looks like it will not be long before the Vikings are once again contenders in the league.

Initially, the Vikings placed a franchise application with the AFL. They were not officially founded until they withdrew their AFL application and joined the NFL in 1961.

Kelly Novinski became an accidental fan of the Vikings while her father was hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Though she will always be devoted to the New Orleans Saints, Kelly secretly waits for the Vikings to make a comeback.
