2012 NFC South Week Two NFL Picks and Predictions: Fan's Opinion

Yahoo Contributor Network

Week two of NFL action in the NFC South should be rather exciting with the Super Bowl Champions, Monday Night Football and an inter-divisional game highlighting the schedule. The NFC South is expected to be one of the most competitive in football. Can they face some tough teams outside of the division and come away with big wins? Here is how I see it shaking down as a fan:

Denver Broncos @ Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons will host the Peyton Manning led Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football in week two and it should be an awesome game. The Broncos looked fantastic in defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in week one while the Falcons whipped the Chiefs. Although Manning looked really good at home against the Steelers, the Falcons' Ryan looked even better. This might just be the game of the week, but I see Peyton coming up just short this time around.

Week Two Pick - Atlanta Falcons

Tampa Bay Bucs @ New York Giants

Tampa Bay looked phenomenal in upsetting the Carolina Panthers in week one but now they face a New York Giants team that is angry. They lost a huge game to the Dallas Cowboys to kick off the season and now they are ready to get some revenge. I expect that the Bucs will play a good game, but that the champs will rebound in a big way. Tampa Bay struggled a bit on offense against the Panthers and their pass rush, and the Giants are even better than the Cats. If Tampa struggled with the Panthers pass rush, imagine what Justin Tuck and the boys will be able to do.

Week Two Pick - New York Giants

New Orleans Saints @ Carolina Panthers

Both of these teams had very disappointing openers but the Carolina Panthers looked particularly bad. They had absolutely no rushing game at all and that is a key component to beating Drew Brees and the Saints. Carolina was held to an insane ten yards rushing against the Bucs, but that was largely due to an abandoned running game early. Whatever the case, they were shut down. Keeping the Saints offense off the field is a must, so the Panthers need to get that fixed pronto. I think that the Panthers will do just that and win at home against the powerful Saints.

Week Two Pick - Carolina Panthers

*Southern is a huge Carolina Panthers fan that is convinced that he will see a Super Bowl Trophy in Charlotte within five years.
