The 2012 NCAA Division I-A College Football schedule will begin with Week 1 games on August 30, 2012. The Week 1 schedule covers games from August 30 through September 3. The South Carolina Gamecocks are the only Associated Press Top 25 team who plays on August 30. The Vanderbilt Commodores will host the Gamecocks in Nashville, Tennessee.

The TCU Horned Frogs are the only ranked team who won't play in Week 1. The Michigan Wolverines and Alabama Crimson Tide will play in the 2012 Cowboys Stadium Classic in Arlington, Texas. The Clemson Tigers and Auburn Tigers will play in a Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia.
