In the 2012 American League Championship Series, the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees will play one another to determine who represents the AL in this year's World Series. The ALCS will begin on Saturday, October 13 and could last as long as Sunday, October 21.
On Thursday, the Tigers advanced to the ALCS with a 6-0 win over the Oakland Athletics. On Friday, the Yankees advanced to the ALCS with a 3-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles. This matchup will be a rematch of a 2011 ALDS matchup where the Tigers beat the Yankees in five games before losing to the Texas Rangers in the ALCS.
