2012 Miami Dolphins Schedule Features Tim Tebow and Vengeance Opportunities: Fan Reaction

Yahoo Contributor Network

Being a Miami Dolphins fan my whole life the release of the schedule each year is usually a time where I see what teams I think the Miami Dolphins can beat and which teams they can't. However, with the release of the 2012 Miami Dolphins schedule I am now more focused on the teams that will feature certain quarterbacks, as well as one team that will feature a head coach, who all passed on the Miami Dolphins. Oh, and I will also be focused on the team that landed Tim Tebow.

The Quarterbacks That Could Have Been

Every Miami Dolphins fan knows the pain I feel when it comes to the quarterback situation. This offseason has been nothing short of a nightmare with every quarterback that came for a visit and then opted to play elsewhere. To start with there was Peyton Manning who went to the Denver Broncos. Next it was Matt Flynn, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Finally it was Alex Smith who re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers. In addition, we shouldn't forget about last year's Miami Dolphins starter Chad Henne who went north and signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Well, of all those quarterbacks, the Miami Dolphins get to face all but one in the 2012 season. On November 25 they will get a chance to defeat Matt Flynn and the Seattle Seahawks. Then on December 9 the Miami Dolphins take on Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers. Finally, one week later on December 16 the Miami Dolphins get to take on Chad Henne and his new team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, though he is likely to only be a backup. In fact, the only quarterback that said no to the Miami Dolphins that will not be faced in 2012 is Peyton Manning, though the Miami Dolphins do face his former team, the Indianapolis Colts, on November 4. So, the chance for revenge is there, the only question is will the Miami Dolphins take it?

The Head Coach Who Ran for the Arches Instead of the Beach

Jeff Fisher was highly sought after for the head coach's position by the Miami Dolphins' brass after the team fired former head coach Tony Sparano. However, after receiving an offer from the St. Louis Rams as well as the Miami Dolphins, Fisher hightailed to St. Louis and left the Miami Dolphins high and dry. As fate would have it, the Miami Dolphins get to face Fisher and his new team on October 14, so hopefully they will get the last laugh in that matter.

Extra Tim Tebow

Because the Miami Dolphins are in the same division as the New York Jets they always play each other twice during the regular season. While the 2012 season is no different with the Miami Dolphins facing the New York Jets on September 23 and October 28, this year they have to do it while facing Tim Tebow as well. As a Miami Dolphins fan there is no love lost between me and the New York Jets, but now I want the wins more than ever before. It's not that I think Tim Tebow is a bad guy, but I do feel that in a way he slighted the Miami Dolphins. Plus, he is a New York Jets player now and therefore a natural enemy of the Miami Dolphins.

Other Games Count Too

Of course all the games on the Miami Dolphins 2012 schedule are important. In the end, as a Miami dolphins fan I just want to see the team do well and hopefully make it to the playoffs. However, should the team lose all the games on their schedule except the ones that feature the quarterbacks that said no, the head coach that said no, and Tim Tebow, I will still consider the Miami Dolphins 2012 campaign a successful one.
