The 2012 Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn will be played at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa on Jones Course in Conover, North Carolina from Friday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14. Television coverage of the event can be found on Golf Channel and there will at least 7 1/2 hours of TV coverage over the three-day span.
Established in 2003, this course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The 78-player field will feature 54 holes of stroke play with no cut. The honorary chairman of the tournament is Hickory resident and NASCAR legend Ned Jarrett. In 2004, Craig Stadler set the tournament record score of -17 to-par.
The defending champion of the event is Mark Wiebe, who won the event with a score of -19. Day 1 will likely start with Chip Beck, Bill Glasson, John Harris, Steve Lowery, Scott Simpson, and Bobby Wadkins teeing off at 10:30 a.m. ET. The purse for the event is $1.6 million with the winner earning $240,000.
