Week 7 of the 2012 fantasy football season will feature many intriguing storylines. From players working through injuries to players having breakout years, Week 7 will have some players with uncertain fantasy value. Here's a look at intriguing over/under predictions for each Week 7 contest.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers: RB Marshawn Lynch over/under 99.5 rushing yards - UNDER
For the first time in a long time, the 49ers defense allowed a 100-yard rusher by the name of New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw in Week 6. Up against one of the league's leading rushers in Lynch, he'll face a run defense that now appears to be a little vulnerable. While he's a definite start every week, the 49ers will do their best to make sure another 100-yard rusher doesn't beat them on Thursday night.
Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills: RB C.J. Spiller over/under 99.5 total yards - OVER
In Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals, Spiller (110 total yards, one touchdown) outperformed Fred Jackson (83 total yards, one touchdown, one fumble lost) in fantasy production. With both backs healthy, Spiller will still split carries with Jackson but has an excellent matchup against a poor Titans defense. Whether it's through the rushing or passing game, Spiller has a good shot at finding a way to reach the century mark in yardage once again this week.
Cleveland Browns at Indianapolis Colts: WR Josh Gordon over/under 9.5 fantasy points - OVER
As the Browns' emerging No. 1 wide receiver, Gordon has worked well with Brandon Weeden and put up back-to-back great games. Up against a beatable Colts secondary, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get a touchdown reception for the third straight game. Whether it's with another big touchdown grab or a series of receptions, Gordon should be an excellent fantasy option this week.
Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans: RB Arian Foster over/under 99.5 rushing yards - UNDER
As the top pick in many fantasy drafts, Foster has been a very good selection for fantasy owners this season. While he has only produced three 100-yard rushing games this season, his eight total touchdowns have made up for his sometimes-low rushing yard totals. While the Ravens defense is now without Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb, Foster may not reach 100 rushing yards in this game due to Baltimore's susceptibility in defending the pass.
Green Bay Packers at St. Louis Rams: RB Alex Green over/under 64.5 rushing yards - UNDER
In his first week as the Packers' starting running back, Green got a healthy workload and finished the day with 65 rushing yards on 22 carries. Up against a Rams defense that has been tough against opposing running backs, Green has also been limited in practice this week due to a shoulder injury. While he's expected to make the start, expectations for Green should be lower due to his workload concerns and tough matchup.
New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers: QB Josh Freeman over/under 299.5 passing yards - OVER
A popular bye-week replacement due to his matchup against the Saints, many fantasy owners are expecting good numbers from Freeman this week. Having a breakout performance against the Kansas City Chiefs last week where he went for over 300 passing yards for the first time this season, this positive momentum could make him have an excellent game once again against New Orleans in Week 7.
Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers: WR Steve Smith over/under 0.5 touchdowns - UNDER
After a nice comeback season last year in Cam Newton's rookie campaign, Smith has been a disappointment so far this season. While his 388 receiving yards are solid for a top receiving option on any team, his lack of touchdowns make him an average fantasy performer. Up against a tough matchup against the solid Cowboy cornerbacks in Week 7, he may once again be left out of the end zone.
Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings: QB John Skelton over/under 199.5 passing yards - OVER
Skelton will receive his first start since Week 1 due to Kevin Kolb's rib injury. Successful at various times during his career, the Vikings do provide a tough matchup for the Cardinals. However, with an unpredictable running game featuring William Powell and LaRod Stephens-Howling as well as his good rapport with Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Roberts, Skelton could have a nice game in his return to the starting quarterback role.
Washington Redskins at New York Giants: TE Martellus Bennett over/under 0.5 touchdowns - OVER
Bennett has been less productive over the last three weeks with a knee injury. Up against a favorable matchup in the Redskins for Week 7, look for a healthy Bennett to find the success he had in the first three weeks of the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Oakland Raiders: WR Denarius Moore over/under 0.5 touchdowns - OVER
Moore had his best game of the season last week by catching five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons. Up against an easier defense in the Jaguars, he could be up for an equally-productive game in Week 7 as the leader of the Raiders' passing attack. Looking more consistent and dangerous in the passing game, Moore could be a top performer once again this week, especially with the improving health of Darrius Heyward-Bey.
New York Jets at New England Patriots: TE Aaron Hernandez over/under 59.5 receiving yards - UNDER
In his return to action, Hernandez rewarded fantasy owners who started him with six catches for 30 yards and a touchdown. Expected to be an even more dangerous option this week now that he is healthier, Rob Gronkowski will also look to penetrate a good Jets defense against opposing tight ends. While both Hernandez and Gronkowski could both have great games, there may be too many options in the New England offense for Hernandez to have an elite performance.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals: WR A.J. Green over/under 0.5 touchdowns - OVER
Through six weeks, Green has been the best fantasy wide receiver in the league. Currently on a five-game touchdown streak, he'll look to extend it to six games against a Steelers defense that is now without Troy Polamalu. Consistent and an unstoppable force this season, Green has an excellent chance at collecting his seventh touchdown of the season against Pittsburgh.
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears: QB Matthew Stafford over/under 1.5 passing touchdowns - UNDER
Stafford finally had his first multi-touchdown game (one passing, one rushing) of the season in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles. While his numbers have been improving, he faces a tough Bears defense in Week 7. An unreliable fantasy quarterback this year, Stafford may have a tough time on Monday night against a top defense and division rival.
