Free-agent first baseman Adam LaRoche agreed to a two-year, $24 million contract to stay with the Washington Nationals, ESPN reported Tuesday. LaRoche's contract includes $10 million this year, $12 million in 2014 and a $2 million mutual buyout option for 2015. LaRoche batted .271 with hit 33 home runs and 100 RBI in 2012. He also won a Gold Glove. Earlier, LaRoche reportedly turned down a $13.3 million offer because he was seeking a three-year contract.
