Scouting Report on Martez Wilson

by Mike Farrell - 06/19/2006
Wilson has a good frame, long arms and excellent speed for a pass rusher. He’s athletic enough to stand up on some plays, but his role in college will be to get after the passer. His speed in pursuit is his most impressive trait and he sheds blockers well. His frame can carry upwards to 260 pounds and his closing speed will only improve with added strength. Wilson is still raw as a football player, but he’s a tremendous athlete who changes direction very well and is a solid tackler. He uses his long reach to keep blockers at bay so he can sidestep them and make the play. Wilson plays linebacker in high school and will be more dangerous moving forward all the time rather than having the play come to him.
