Gonzaga Bulldogs is still holding strong as the No. 1 team in the country, but it’s not a consensus. Villanova Wildcats still has three first-place votes in the latest Coaches poll. Kansas Jayhawks is third, Arizona Wildcats fourth and UCLA Bruins fifth. UCLA and Arizona play on Saturday. The biggest jump within the polls is Duke’s bump from 14th to 11th. Wichita State Shockers makes its run at the rankings once again, as it’s 25th in this week’s poll. The Shockers are an interesting bubble team, because they have a good record and good computer metrics, but they lack a sack of notable victories. It was thought that Kevin Olsen had hit rock bottom a couple of years ago. Based on what transpired earlier today, it’s time to rethink that stance. According to the Charlotte Observer, Olsen was arrested Sunday afternoon on multiple charges. Specifically, the Charlotte 49ers quarterback was charged with felony second-degree forcible rape, cyberstalking, assault on a female and second-degree forced sex. From the Observer‘s report: A statement released by UNC Charlotte said that the allegations against Olsen “appear to involve sexual assault within an existing relationship.” UNC Charlotte said it had been in communication with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police following the arrest Sunday afternoon.
Texas freshman Jarrett Allen showed why he was a McDonald’s All-American and NBA Draft prospect on Monday night as the big man put down a ferocious dunk on a West Virginia defender. Just the sheer force of that dunk was impressive and Allen used all of his wingspan to deliver it.
