Texas QB transfers to Tulsa

Quarterback G.J. Kinne, who was fourth on the depth chart at Texas, transferred to Tulsa on Wednesday. Tulsa Team Report May 1, 2008

After winning 10 games, the C-USA West and the GMAC Bowl last season, Tulsa is starting over in two key areas.

First, the Golden Hurricane must find a replacement for record-setting quarterback Paul Smith, the 2007 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year. Senior David Johnson entered the spring as the starter after being Smith's backup the past two seasons, but redshirt freshman Clark Harrell and JUCO transfer Jacob Bower kept the competition close throughout the season.

"We're going to name a starter when someone steps out and defines themselves as a starter," Tulsa coach Todd Graham told the Tulsa World. "David is in the lead with his type of consistency this spring, but (Harrell and Bower) had outstanding springs. ...More
