Coach Houston Nutt is trying to strike a delicate balance.

On the one hand, he wants to capitalize on the energy surging through Oxford following the Rebels' 41-24 spanking of Memphis. On the other hand, he knows Saturday's game at Wake Forest will be much more telling in the quest to gauge his current team's standing amongst a megapower conference packed with national contenders.

Ole Miss, using Nutt's Wild Rebel formation at opportune moments, torched the Tigers for 438 total yards. Wake Forest's defense is at another level entirely.

"They've got nine starters returning, with a lot of fifth-year seniors," Nutt said. "Alfonso Smith is one of the best corners we will see all year long. ...More
