The Marshall program coach Mark Snyder inherited from his predecessor Bob Pruett in the spring of 2005 barely compared to the one that achieved so much success in the Mid-American Conference.

That's been reflected in records of 4-7, 5-6 and 3-9 in Snyder's first three seasons on the job. He and his coaches have spent considerable time and effort trying to rebuild the numbers.

The Thundering Herd return eight starters on both offense and defense and took a step in the right direction in the spring when several redshirt freshmen stepped up, adding competition throughout the depth chart.

Tailback Terrell Edwards, quarterback Mark Cann, cornerbacks T.J. Drakeford and DeQuan Bembry, linebacker Kellen Harris and offensive linemen Ryan Tillman and C.J.
