   Boston College entered its second bye week of the season having just seen what Chris Crane can do as a starting college quarterback.

   The goal is to make sure he keeps doing it.

   Crane had one of those career days in the 38-31 victory at North Carolina State, earning ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors. That's the good news for BC. The bad news? It was his first major showing; and he now spends the bye week knowing that No. 18 Virginia Tech and its always daunting defense awaits.
