Northern Trust profit falls on hit from debt investment sale
The company incurred a $189.4 million loss on the sale of certain debt securities, as it repositioned its portfolio. Shares of Bank of America (BAC) and Morgan Stanley (MS) are rising Tuesday morning after reporting first quarter earnings. Both companies beat Wall Street estimates for revenue and adjusted earnings per share (EPS): Bank of America reported $25.82 billion against a projection of $25.61 billion and took home an adjusted EPS of $0.83 against estimates of $0.77. Morgan Stanley posted revenue of $15.14 billion against estimates of $14.46 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of $2.02 against projections of $1.66.
