Reggie's response

This transcript of Reggie Bush's remarks after practice on Friday shows that the Saints rookie denies any wrongdoing while at USC.

Question: Can you discuss your response to the situation being publicized?

Answer: "It is what it is. My focus is on football right now. We got Green Bay coming up and that's really it. People are going to say what they're going to say. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. It's a free country. It is what it is. I'm not worried about the allegations because I know what the truth is. Like I said from day one, once the smoke clears, everybody will see we did nothing wrong. That's it."

Q: Do you want to say anything to the USC community?

A: "USC already knows and they know what the deal is. When I talked to them, I told them the same thing. Don't worry about it. If there were something to worry about I would tell you. That's really what it is. I can say that wholeheartedly because I believe that and I know so."

Q: Does this situation weigh on you a little bit?

A: "Obviously, it's unfortunate that I have to go through this and they (his family) have to be involved in it because me and my family are a unit and we've always been like that. Obviously, it hurts when people say that stuff, as it would anyone. It would hurt you. I know there's nothing to worry about."

Q: Does the situation make you want to give a public rebuttal?

A: "Yes, it does. It makes you want to go out there right away and tell your side of the story and show everybody the facts and the truth. You can't do that and that wouldn't be the right way."

Q: How is this affecting your preparation for this week?

A: "It's not affecting my preparation at all. I'm still out there preparing [and] getting ready to play football. That tells you it's not affecting me. I'm prepared to go into Green Bay and hopefully get a win.

We're getting prepared for this week. The team's looking good. I'm excited about coming into this game and trying to come out with a W."

Q: Does it surprise you that these things are being said?

A: "At this point in time, nothing surprises me. That's the truth. I've seen it all from just about everybody. Nothing surprises me. It's unfortunate, but at the same time, but in this position, it's unfortunate that you have to keep your guard up all the time."
