TCU has made slow but steady progress since leaving Conference USA in 2005-06 to join the Mountain West, improving from 2-14 in league play in its first season to 4-12 in 2006-07 and 6-10 in 2007-08.

The Horned Frogs didn't hop fast enough to save head coach Neil Dougherty, who was fired Sunday (March 16) with one year remaining on his contract. He was 75-108 in six seasons in Fort Worth and had a losing record in five of those years with only one postseason berth, an appearance in the 2005 NIT.

"We appreciate Neil's contributions to TCU over the last six years," athletics director Danny Morrison said. "He cares deeply about the student athletes and always had their best interests at heart.
