Joel Embiid feels '100 percent,’ is on track to play for 76ers in preseason

Joel Embiid has fun with Nerlens Noel during warm ups prior to a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 10, 2016. At long last, from the sound of things, fans of the Philadelphia 76ers might this season — possibly, potentially, with a little bit of luck, maybe — actually get a look at that rarest and most imagination-captivating of theoretical beings: a fully healthy Joel Embiid. The 7-foot-2 Cameroonian prospect, whom the Sixers selected out of Kansas with the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft despite pre-draft fractures in his lower back and foot, was front and center during the Sixers’ Beach Bash in Avalon, N.J., this weekend.

Syracuse lands critical piece in Andrew White

Syracuse has found their replacement for Malachi Richardson. On Sunday, Nebraska transfer Andrew White committed to the Orange, picking Syracuse, in the end, over VCU. White is a graduate transfer who spent last season with Nebraska, where he averaged 16.2 points while shooting 41.2 percent from three. A top 50 prospect out of Virginia back in the Class of 2012, White played a limited role for Kansas his first two seasons in college. This is a significant pickup for the Orange, one that legitimately puts them into the conversation as a Final Four contender and a threat to finish at or near the top of the ACC. Jim Boeheim has put together a roster full of talented, long and athletic front court

Lonzo Ball struggled on UCLA’s Australian tour

UCLA capped their three-game trip to Australia on Sunday night with a 94-91 win over the Brisbane Bullets, a game in which sophomore point guard Aaron Holiday finished with a team-high 17 points. Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton both added 16 points and freshman Ike Anigbogu finished with 13 points and 10 boards. This win came just two days after the Bruins lost to Melbourne United, 89-84, when Hamilton — 18 points and five assists — and Holiday — 16 points — were both once again impressive.
