Illinois-Chicago went 0-3 against conference champion Butler this year, averaging just 51 points per game against the Bulldogs.

Flames head coach Jimmy Collins said the major difference between the two teams was the experience of Butler and its four senior starters and senior sixth man.

"Experience beats wishing, hoping, praying and all of that," Collins told the Northwest Indiana Times. "Experience is the best teacher. It's some hard lessons to learn, but we're getting the experience. You look at Butler, they've got that senior leadership out there and everybody else is playing their roles. They've got experience. They've got swagger."
