Charlotte 49er quarterback Kevin Olsen, charged Sunday with rape and other crimes, threatened to strangle himself with a phone charger moments before sexually assaulting his accuser, a Mecklenburg County prosecutor said in court Monday morning. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Olsen was freed on $103,000 bond at 4 p.m. Monday, charged with three counts of felony second-degree forcible rape, communicating threats, assault on a female and second-degree sex offense (forcible fondling). The incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. Sunday at Olsen’s apartment in University City, near the UNC Charlotte campus, according to Assistant District Attorney Kristen Northrup. Olsen and his accuser were dating, authorities said.

That observation came courtesy of a recent feature in the Sun-Sentinel featuring comments from Kiffin’s former quarterbacks at USC and Tennessee. Vols quarterback Jonathan Crompton rallied for Kiffin and his play-calling prowess. He even dramatically recalled Kiffin’s perfectly set-up touchdown play early in a game against South Carolina in 2009, his only year with the Vols. Mitch Mustain, who started his career at Arkansas but finished at USC with Kiffin in 2010, gave a less glowing review. “There was nothing unique about
Mack is forbidden by University Interscholastic League rules from competing on the boys team because his birth certificate lists his gender as female. Over the weekend, he won the girls' regional title in his weight class, but not on the terms he might have wished: Two of his scheduled opponents forfeited without facing him — perhaps at the behest of the adults caught up in this drama. "I feel so sick and disgusted by the discrimination not by the kids [but by] the PARENTS and COACHES," Mack said in his post. In the lawsuit filed by the parent of a female Coppell High School wrestler (who is in a different weight class and would not have faced Mack in any event), concern was raised over Mack's use of testosterone.
