Washington Redskins president Bruce Allen has insisted the decision to fire general manager Scot McCloughan was in the best interests of the franchise. McCloughan was fired on March 9 despite the Redskins having recorded back-to-back winning seasons since he took over as GM in January 2015. Reports had suggested that McCloughan's problems with alcohol allegedly resurfacing had factored into his dismissal.
