India diversifies food exports as curbs on domestic staples weigh

India's agricultural food exports in the 2023/24 financial year fell slightly short of the previous year, hitting about $50 billion as efforts to diversify shipments to the United States, Europe and other markets helped to offset curbs on rice, wheat and sugar exports. The export curbs were imposed by the world's second-largest producer of wheat, rice and sugar last year to rein in rising domestic prices. The curbs have hit food exports by between $5 billion and $6 billion, said commerce ministry official Rajesh Agrawal, adding that overall agriculture exports could be about $50 billion for the year to March 31.

JetBlue lowers annual revenue forecast as Latin America oversupply bites

Struggling to return to profitability, JetBlue last month outlined plans to cut a number of its routes and markets that were unprofitable, including Bogota in Colombia and Lima in Peru, and reallocate resources to better-performing markets. The Caribbean and Latin American regions represented more than 33% of JetBlue's overall capacity in 2023, according to a regulatory filing. The company now expects fiscal 2024 revenue to decline in the low-single-digit percentage range, compared with its prior forecast for revenue to remain roughly flat.

At least 10 jihadist attacks prevented in Europe in 2023, Dutch agency says

Western intelligence prevented at least 10 jihadist attacks across Europe last year and the current war between Israel and the militant Palestinian group Hamas has increased the threat of further attacks, Dutch intelligence agency AIVD said on Tuesday. The foiled attacks included a plan to stab people at random and preparations for an assault on specific buildings and events, the AIVD said in its annual report, without elaborating. "There were two mobilising issues: the destruction of Korans in the Netherlands and other European countries and the conflict between Israel and Hamas," the Dutch agency said.
