Tipton helps Central Michigan defeat Akron 35-14

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP)—Zurlon Tipton rushed for three touchdowns, including a 72-yard run, to help Central Michigan beat Akron 35-14 on Saturday afternoon.

Tipton ran 72 yards up the sideline for his first touchdown of the game for Central Michigan (3-5, 1-3 Mid-American). He later had a 5-yard run and a 6-yard run for touchdowns. Tipton finished the game with 37 carries for 243 yards—a career high. Central Michigan had a total of 264 yards on the ground.

Ryan Radcliff was 15 of 25 for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Titus Davis caught both TD passes—one at 27 yards and another at 36.

Central Michigan led 14-7 at halftime, but Akron could only score seven more points.

Dalton Williams was 31 of 51 for 329 yards, including two touchdowns, for Akron (1-8, 0-5). Dee Frieson caught a 9-yard pass and Jerrod Dillard caught a 10-yard pass for touchdowns.
