James Madison eases to 31-13 win over Rhode IslandSaturday, Nov 12, 2011
HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP)—Dae’Quan Scott rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and Justin Thorpe accounted for two more scores as James Madison cruised to a 31-13 victory over Rhode Island Saturday in Colonial Athletic Association action.
Scoring in every quarter and shutting out Rhode Island (3-7, 2-5) for the first three, the Dukes (6-4, 4-3) raced to a 28-0 lead and coasted home. Thorpe ran 10 yards in the first quarter to open the scoring, then threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Renard Robinson in the second for a 14-0 halftime lead.
Then Scott took over. He scored both of his touchdowns in the third quarter, the second on a 66-yard run.
Rhode Island finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter. Robert Bentson ran 11 yards for one touchdown and Steve Probst a yard for the second. But it was way too little too late.
