DAVIDSON, N.C. (AP)—Braden Smith scored on a 5-yard run in triple overtime and Steth Monroe intercepted a pass on Davidson’s ensuing possession in the third extra period, helping Campbell to a 26-20 win on Saturday.
After both teams settled for field goals in the first overtime, Davidson went for it on fourth-and-1 at the Campbell 12-yard line. But Milton Brown stopped Davidson’s Chris Gorman for no gain, giving the ball over to Campbell (5-3, 4-2 Pioneer League).
But the Camels couldn’t capitalize, as Adam Willets missed wide left from 35 yards away to send it to triple OT.
Smith, whose 12-yard touchdown pass to Chad McMichael with 13 seconds left in regulation forced overtime, had 290 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Camels.
Gorman rushed for 151 yards and a score, while Jonathan Carkhuff threw for 290 yards with a touchdown and an interception for Davidson (2-6, 0-5).
