NEW YORK (AP)—Dominique Williams ran for 180 yards on 26 carries to lead Wagner past St. Francis (Pa.) 38-28 in the Northeast Conference season opener for both teams Saturday.

Williams, who had two touchdowns, scored on a 5-yard run to give the Seahawks a 17-7 lead at halftime.

St. Francis running back Kyle Harbridge paced the Red Flash with 154 yards and two touchdowns—a 2-yard run in the third quarter and a 3-yard run in the fourth—to draw his team within three points of the lead.

But with three minutes left to play, the Seahawks again put the ball in Williams’ hands.

The sophomore running back led Wagner on a six-play, 59-yard drive, in which he broke a 28-yard run to put the game out of reach.

Nick Doscher, last year’s second leading passer in the NEC, threw for 173 and two touchdowns.
