Norfolk State rolls past Savannah State 42-6

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP)—DeAngelo Branche rushed for a career-high 233 yards to become Norfolk State’s all-time leading rusher and the Spartans rolled past Savannah State 42-6 on Saturday.

Branche finished his career with 3,678 yards to pass LaRue Harrington, who had 3,659 career yards. Branche ended this season with 1,330 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Branche scored three of Norfolk State’s first four touchdowns as the Spartans (6-5) built a 28-0 lead. He scored on runs of 1, 4 and 34 yards.

Norfolk State’s Chris Walley was 19 of 23 for 270 yards and threw two touchdown passes to Reggie Garrett. Walley’s 76-yard scoring pass to Garrett gave the Spartans a 42-3 lead with 9:32 left.

Garrett finished with eight catches for 173 yards.

Antonio Proctor led Savannah State (1-10) with 68 yards rushing.

Derek Williams kicked field goals of 47 and 35 yards for the Tigers.
