Sacramento State beats Portland State 28-15

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)—Jeff Fleming threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns and Sacramento State beat Portland State 28-15 Saturday.

Fleming’s arm left the Hornets (5-4, 4-3 Big Sky) with 240 total passing yards to Portland State’s (2-7, 1-5) 141 yards. But the Vikings dominated the ground game, rolling up 233 rushing yards, while the Hornets managed only 68 yards.

Fleming connected with Morris Norrise on a 43-yard TD pass and Chase Deadder on a 57-yard TD pass. Matt Carter also caught a 2-yard Fleming TD pass, and Bryan Hilliard ran for a score.

Portland State’s Cory McCaffrey rushed for a touchdown, and Zach Brown kicked three field goals. McCaffrey finished with 187 yards on 33 carries.
