Liberty second-half surge beats Presbyterian 34-24Saturday, Oct 30, 2010
CLINTON, S.C. (AP)—SirChauncey Holloway scored on three 1-yard touchdown runs and Liberty overcame two first-half turnovers to defeat Presbyterian 34-24 on Saturday.
With the score tied at 17 at halftime, the Flames (6-2, 3-0 Big South Conference) scored on their first three drives of the second half to take a 34-17 lead with 8:11 left.
Ryan Singer answered with a 70-yard touchdown run 19 seconds later to pull the Blue Hose (1-7, 1-3) within 10, but Liberty recovered the ensuing onside kick at the 49. The Flames drove to the Presbyterian 6, taking 5:06 off the clock, before turning the ball over on downs.
Liberty’s Kevin Fogg sealed the win by intercepting a Singer pass with 1:50 to go.
Flames quarterback Mike Brown had his first career 100-yard rushing game with 149 yards on 23 carries, including one touchdown. Brown also completed 25 of 38 passes for 272 yards and one interception.
