SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)—Bryan Hilliard ran for 136 yards and scored a touchdown with 3:23 remaining to lead Sacramento State a 24-17 victory against Weber State on Saturday night.
After Hilliard’s 4-yard TD run, which culminated a nine-play, 55-yard drive, the Hornets (2-1, 1-0 Big Sky) stopped Weber State (1-2, 1-1) on downs and bled the last two minutes off the clock.
Jeff Fleming threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns for Sacramento State.
Cameron Higgins was 21 of 42 for 253 yards with two touchdowns and an interception for the Wildcats.
Higgins’ 13-yard TD pass to running back Josh Booker knotted the score at 17-17 with 8:05 to play. The ensuing kickoff was returned 34 yards by Sam McCowan to the Hornets’ 45-yard line, giving Sacramento State good starting position for its game-winning march.
Joe Collins had five catches for 110 yards for Weber State.
